In the spring of 2010, some trial seed production was scheduled in China, the main purpose is to find the best area for pea seed production.
Now we got the trial results, and we can say we find the best location.
The trials are located in different areas in China, including Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia, Tiebet, and Qinghai, totally 9 locations. All of these areas are cool area, which is good for pea production.
All the varieties in the trial is from China local market, covers different kind of pea, including dry pea and fresh pea, semi-leafless type and normal type.
The following are the result of seed yield:

The "AREA 06" got the best seed yield, the average seed yield from all of the varieties is 4733kg per ha, while the second good harvest is 3200kg per ha.

The most important is, in this area, the "AREA 06", because of it's unique geographic location and climate, also the good crops rotation practice inherited from the history of local agriculture, there are no Bruchus pisorum happened in this area.

Protection of genetic material is the most important thing in let production of seeds. As our contract farmers and growers have been working with us for several years, they well understand the principles of genetic ownership and anyone who goes against the protection of genetic material will be expelled from the seed production group. Meanwhile, contract seed production under customers’ demand is the sole business of Topsource & Jiuzhou, we don’t sell any seeds except those surplus of over-production with customers’ consent.
For that hybrid F1 seed production, we usually plant male line seedlings in our own plastic house while those of female line in grower’s field. Currently we are studying some new genetic protection method like cryo-pollen hybrid seed production, which adopts cryopreservation of pollen.

In year 2007, we planned some trial production in Liaoning province. Now we get the final seed testing report, all seeds produced their passed both the lab test and grow out test.
Due to the unique geographical circumstance and climate, this new production base in Liaoning provine is perfect for dutch type cucumber, eggplant, bittergourd, towel gourd.
In 2008, we enlarged the trial scale and next year, heavy quantity of previos species and varieties will be transfered here.

In most cases, seed crop growing in vegetable seed production requires environmental conditions that are very different from those for the harvest of the market-use vegetable crop. For example, ambient temperature, photoperiod, length of growing season, and precipitation amount and distribution may vary for the optimum production of market-use and seed crops. The following represents general requirements and considerations utilized in vegetable seed production.
